Fields of Jubilee

LP Swan Valley donated the use of property around the mill to grow wheat on 80 acres for a community growing project to benefit the Canadian Food Grains Bank.

A local volunteer group of approximately 20 people from various churches in the valley came together in 2000, to create the Fields of Jubilee initiative.  Proceeds from harvested crops are donated to the Canadian Food Grains Bank to aid Third World countries in the fight against poverty.

LP Swan Valley has two wheat fields growing for the project: One on the north side of the plant and one on the south.

The costs of growing and harvesting are met with donations from local agricultural dealers, merchants, businesses and valley residents.  To date, the Swan Valley group has raised just under $500,000.
