Sustainable Forestry

We believe sustainably managed forests can provide vital environmental, social and economic benefits for all of us – now and for generations to come. We take land-use stewardship seriously. LP’s forest management and wood procurement programs represent one of the industry’s highest commitments to sustainable forestry.

LP follows strict forestland management standards on the land we manage to:

  • Ensure prompt reforestation, soil conservation, riparian protection, proper use forest health on lands that we manage
  • Protect water quality, fish and wildlife habitats
  • Protect ecological, historical and cultural sites such as interpretive trails, endangered species, bird sanctuaries and unique forest types

We promote and use tools to strongly encourage the same on lands we don’t own or manage, like family lands.

Our Land-Use Stewardship Commitment outlines our commitments.

Sharing the Passion for Forestry

Make no mistake, LP’s foresters love to be out in the woods. But they also can be found out in the community, supporting 4-Hers, rounding up loggers for charity, or sharing their passion and knowledge with the young people who will be taking care of our forests for the next generation.
